Homemade Hair cleanser :) DIY - Kate Dillon

Did you know baking soda is one of the easiest ways to clean your hair? I've started using this baking soda mix once a week now compared to traditional shampoo!

THIS METHOD HAS CHANGED MY HAIR its now amazing!

Hair build up is caused by using products on our hair. By shampooing we do not clear this problem but mearly add to it more!!

I’m a completly DIY since my hair is so damaged from the bleech in my hair. I've been trying to avoid the nasty chemicals in most hair treatments.  They may leave your hair feeling sliky smooth but are they actually helping your hair?
  • sodium Sodium Lauryl
  • Parabens
  • Fragrance
  • These are three of the worst ingredients, but are in most shampoos!!!
When we think fragrance  we think of the smell, strawberries, fruits or even something delicious. This word can actually mean nearly 4000 harsh chemicals!

I tried a clarifying shampoo, but that made my dry hair even more dry!!!!  I then started to use an intensense hair mask with it, and that seemed to make my hair look even more dead!! I was seriously thinking of chopping off a few inchs of my hair I was that fed up!!!!

We all remember how baking soda and vineger reacted in school in those volcanos now i simply, wash with baking soda, rinse with vinegar, blow dry, and curl! .

That's it and my hair has never been as strong!!! My hair tends to get stripped by the shampoos i was using, I was trying to teach it to become more oily to lower the amount of times I had to wash it!

This is the cheapest thing I have ever tried!!
The only negative is that this will not foam but its worth it!!

Mix 1 part baking soda with 3 parts water. (  4 tablespoon of water - 1 tablespoons baking soda)
I have long hair so I mix 4 tablespoons of baking soda, to 16 tablespoons of water. .
Apply the baking soda and water mixture to dry or wet hair by starting at the roots and working to the ends.

Let it sit for 1 - 3 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Mix 1 part white vinegar with 4 parts water. (1 tablespoon vinegar - 4 tablespoon water) I add french vanilla or almond oil to reduce the vinegar smell!!!
I tilt my head forwards close my eyes, and spread over my hair!

After a few seconds, rinse with cold water. The cold water helps to seal in moisture, smooth the hair, and add shine.
Will you try the baking soda and vinegar method? Any tips for good hair?

Happy Hair Days :)

Yankee Candle Reveiw!

Hey Hey!

Going mad for blogs lately! With college i only get the chance to do it on Sunday evenings :)
Last weekend i came home and saw this gorgeous candle sitting on the table!
My mum bought it for me as a present :)
This candle is my favorite scent in the WHOLE WORLD!
This candle is described as sweet and zesty! It combines juicy mangoes and peaches with citrus fruits, ginger flowers and pepper! What an odd mixture?
Yet it all goes together so well!
This size is the largest sized yankee they do! It lasts up to 150 hours!

These candles are super easy to use and you can even buy a special wick cutter to avoid that annoying wax residue on the sides!
The fragrance of these candles is over whelming, it fills the whole room with a radiant smell!
I love this scent so much because it is not too strong, and smells very fruity :)
Think this would be a perfect christmas present for anyone!
Great value too, and we all love that!

Happy Lighting!

Diy face mask!

This berry face mask is sure to get your skin nice and bright, sure if ya don't like it its good enough to eat!!

Blueberries are rich in fiber as well as vitamins A

and C, while low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. They

are also a good source of antioxidants. Although acne is typically

attributable more to hormones than to the physical condition of

your skin, certain nutrients can counteract the hormonal

conditions which encourage pimples. Many of the vitamins in

blueberries may neutralize or normalize oil levels in your skin,

making it healthier and less likely to accumulate sebum.

Vitamin A, in particular, is used in a variety of acne-related skin

 treatments.

What you need:
5 blue berries
3 strawberries

Natural yogurt
Honey!

Place the blue berries and strawberries in a bowl and mash with a fork.. Make sure its smooth and crush the skin..

Add 4 tablespoons of yogurt

2 teaspoons honey.

Apply to clean dry skin and leave for 15 mins..
Do not leave on for two hours as colour of berry juice May stain your face like me.. Washes off though :-P
I also made a hair mask while i was at it..

What you need
Honey
Banana
Deep conditioner of any kind
Olive oil

Almond oil (not necessary)
Lemon juice

Purple shampoo (blondes only)

Pop it all in one bowl.. Mash together.. Lather onto hair leave for 30 - 1 hour.. Rinse and shampoo your hair will be left smelling and feeling great!

DIY SPARKLE SHOES!

DIY Sparkle shoes!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a quick guide how to make glitter shoes!
Okay so everyone knows from shopping that glitter shoes can be pretty pricey and sometimes have an awful tendency to flake or peel! Well I have the solution to this!
MAKE YOUR OWN!

This cost me literally the price of pva glue and a small cartoon of sliver glitter.
You can get both supplies from any craft store and of coarse the pair of shoes! I pick a black pair of heels that I got in pennys months ago for 12 euro and I was bored of the look of them so I said why not design my own? J

So first step is to cover the shoes in pva glue! Sounds a little scary but its like being back in school!

Gently squeeze some pva glue onto the shoes all over or wherever is desired! I only did the heels as I didn’t think I had enough glitter to do the entire shoe!

Then use an old paint brush or even your finger and then spread the glue out! It takes seconds; make sure you keep moving so the glue doesn’t set! If you’re going to do the whole shoe I advise doing it in sections so the glue doesn’t dry out!

Then over an old shoe box, towel, newspaper, magazine anything that will catch the glitter sprinkle the glitter over the wet glue. Shake off excess glue and then slowly dab the glitter with your finger! Don’t go too hard or the glue will go lumpy this is just to push the glitter in the whole way!

Follow the same method for your phone cover, iPod, purse, bag whatever it is! Three easy steps, glue, brush, shake and done J

The options are endless so experiment :)
It literally took me 5 minutes and who doesn’t love glittery things? J

A new purchase! :)

Yankee Candles, you may think there only for girls but now they have an even larger range suitable for both men and females!

So I went shopping and got pulled into the Yankee Shop, for those who don’t know who Yankee Candles are, they are the best candles out there. They smell delicious! There scents are beautiful, tasty and so realistic!

For the price they are great value! A large Yankee Candle will cost you from €22, a medium from €15 and a small from €8 depending where you buy them!

The large will burn for over 110-150 hours J that’s nearly 6 days!!

I bought a large Yankee Candle in the scent Christmas Cookie for €11 on sale!

As well as a large Mange Peach Salsa Candle for €22, this may sound a lot for a candle but its well worth the price! J

Mango Peach salsa is my favourite Yankee scent. It smells like mangos, peach and even pineapples all together. The fruity smell spreads around the room from the second you light it!

I love so many other scents from Yankee, soft blanket! A clean fresh scent that smells just like your fresh washing!

Christmas cookie! A limited edition every December that’s always on sale for €11 after Christmas! It smells like vanilla, sugar and freshly baked cookies!

Vanilla cupcake is also very like Christmas cookie only it smells like freshly cooked cupcakes and vanilla frosting! This candle smells so good you’d want to eat it!

Now they even have scents that men will love! A mid summers night dream may have an off putting name but believe me this scent is such a manly smell. It smells just like Hugo Boss aftershave! Such a gorgeous smell around the house!

They now even have air conditioners, hand wash, body wash, and even scented sticks!

Often if you keep your eyes peeled you can get them on BOGOF

It makes the value of the candles even cheaper!

With hundreds of candle scents to choose from there is one for every one!

Sadly though over the years I have bought some of their scents that I have really regretted. This is all a personal choice but I seriously hate the smell of cinnamon. Even thinking about it makes me sick! I hate it so much so I guess buying the scent Cinnamon Sticks in a Christmas gift set was a horrible idea.

Sadly another bad choice was Creamy Caramel from Yankee Candle. Some people love this scent. But I think it’s too rich, it smells like creamy caramel with a hint of fake tan. You know that morning after smell of sleeping in tan? Well this candle smells just like this! A mixture of digestive biscuits and creamy caramel sounds delicious but believe me its not!

Over all I cant say anything else about how much I love these candles there addictive!
